While fans of old-school RPGs rejoiced when Atlus' enhanced port of the original Persona game hit the PlayStation Portable, a few of the more crotchety devotees complained about director/composer Shoji Meguro's rearranged musical score. It was a minor complaint to be sure, but it seems Atlus has taken it to heart for their work on the upcoming port of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, especially since they've declared that the port was being done for older fans of the series.
To that end, Persona 2: Innocent Sin PSP will have both the original and rearranged music available in-game, and players will be able to switch between soundtracks on the fly. Talk about bending over backwards to satisfy some folks, right?

Last week, I got the chance to catch up with Edmund McMillen, co-creator of Super Meat Boy. I asked him how he felt about the critical reception that the game has received so far, about our chances for a Super Meat Boy 2, and what he's working on right now. I also confront him about my one complaint about Super Meat Boy. It got tense.
His responses may shock you. There is also some potentially disturbing images of animals being slaughtered here, so watch out for that too. All around, this video isn't for the faint of heart. I hope that those of you with a strong stomach enjoy it. The rest of you, please don't watch it.
Not kidding.

Eurogamer is reporting that Adrian Bolton, general manager at Codemasters Guildford and the developer behind Bodycount, has left the company. He's actually not the first person to leave the development team on Bodycount. Stuart Black, creative director on the game, left the company back in July as well.
These departures have caused Bodycount to be slightly delayed and we can now expect the game to be released in Summer 2011.
Codemasters CEO Rod Cousens assures the media that the game is in safe hands despite the people that have left and insists that there's nothing wrong. He even says that bloggers are probably going to "paint the picture fuelled by injured parties."
I don't know about you, but I think something is going on over at Codemasters there. My blogging senses are adding harsh colors to the canvas of my mind right now just thinking about it! Eurogamer does add that Bodycount has been a "problem project" according to a source close to the game.
And for those of you wondering what Bodycount is even all about, the lovable Samit Sarkar got to preview it earlier this year. It has guns and sh*t.

Speaking with Famitsu, Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi gave an update on a few of the studio's missing projects and, of course, Ninja Gaiden 3. He revealed that the DoA prequel, Dead or Alive Code Cronus, has been scrapped, as has Project Progressive, a game I have no memory of whatsoever.
As for brighter (and bloodier) news, Ninja Gaiden 3 is still progressing along nicely. "We've already completed an internal prototype," says Hayashi. "We held a sampling event for the prototype, and it was well received within the company. It will be a bit longer before we share info with everyone."
"We'd like to make the action game that's most interesting for the current era. With this meaning," he continues, "it's going to be a game that's not bound by the past more than necessary. Of course, we will be valuing the past, but in a good meaning we'd like to make it into a game that's not tied down by the past."

Electronic Arts has announced a new title in the Battlefield series today, this one called Battlefield Play4Free. It's a PC title and to play it, it'll cost you exactly what you'd expect — nothing.
The game is said to be a "deep PC shooter featuring signature Battlefield vehicular warfare, sandbox gameplay, and intense 32-player online battles. They're currently accepting signs up for the closed beta on its website; those accepted will get a chance to start shooting at things at the end of November.

EA calls the game a combination of Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2, with the most popular maps from the former and the classes and weapons of the latter. Expect some kind of link between Play4Free, Battlefield Heroes (which is also free to play) and the upcoming Battlefield 3.
What's the catch? Well, microtransactions of course, although EA is quiet on the specifics. But from what we can tell, the core experience won't cost you a cent, so that's the good news. Expect it to be go wide in spring of 2011.
ART!
Capcom, easily one of the best companies when it comes to including their fans in everything that goes on, is holding an art contest for Marvel vs Capcom 3! Capcom wants any kind of fan-art based on Marvel vs Capcom 3 and the best four pieces will be showcased in the official Marvel vs Capcom 3 campaign. The four winners will also WIN a copy of the game and one grand-prize winner will get a MvC fightstick. Sick!
This isn't just limited to US audiences either! European folks can get in on the goodness too. You have until November 22 to submit some arts and you can find the full rules and requirements over on Capcom-Unity.

I am really looking forward to the new Need For Speed for two reasons. One, Criterion is making it — enough said. Two, I loved the Hot Pursuit games back in the PlayStation 1 days and what I've played so far of the new Hot Pursuit has been nothing short of spectacular.
Funny, as much as I'm looking forward to this, I just want to know what's next on Criterion's plate already. They've yet to disappoint me and I already want news of whatever the hell they're working on next.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit will be out in North America on November 16, November 18 in Europe and Australia and December 9 in Japan.
Make no mistake, I'm not being facetious when I say that this is the best news of today. Many of you who have touched Rock Band 3 will likely agree. For those who have not, know there's an Achievement on the Xbox 360 version for calibrating your system, a total necessity, and it's worth four Gamerscore points.
In order to balance out those four points so your running total doesn't end in a gross number, you need to earn a six-point Achievement for linking your account to RockBand.com. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, before now, you physically couldn't — that functionality wasn't enabled. But now it is! Rejoice!
Note: After linking my account, I had to restart Rock Band 3 for the action to take effect.
How do you get people who aren't normally interested in poker to buy your poker videogame? Simple. Have it focus on beloved personalities rooted deeply within gamer culture, price it at $4.95, and heck — might as well make sure unlockable items for Team Fortress 2 are included while you're at it.
That is precisely what Telltale's Poker Night at the Inventory is doing, anyway, and I'll be legitamately shocked if they don't make a killing off of it. Attached are images of those items, which will appear in special rounds of the game. Win the round, and the item is yours. Here's the list:
-
"The Iron Curtain" weapon for the Heavy
-
Max's Lugermorph handgun for the Scout and the Engineer; Max's Freelance Police badge wearable by any class
-
Wrist watch from Penny Arcade's Tycho for the Spy
-
Strong Bad's "Dangeresque" sunglasses for the Demoman
Lastly, there is the Heavy's poker visor, which you can be the proud owner of by pre-ordering Poker Night at the Inventory.
