Breaking: Valve makes awesome Portal 2 trailer screenshot

Valve brought a new trailer for Portal 2 to the Spike Video Game Awards tonight, and in the process confirmed that they make awesome trailers.

Really, that’s about it. No new game information here, unless you can spot a Half Life 2: Episode 3 teaser in there somewhere. (Hint: You won’t be able to.) In any case, watching it will be a test: if you don’t enjoy it, you’re broken inside. Go on — find out.

Insomniac promised us actual in-game footage for Resistance 3 and here it is. Of course, you’ll have to sit through some live-action footage first, but it’s there… and it looks damned pretty.

We also get a release date for the PlayStation 3-exclusive — September 6, 2011.

+ Bathe with Slimes, get a toy By Admin 11 December 2010 at 12:00 pm and have No Comments

Bathe with Slimes, get a toy screenshot

I hope everyone reading this bathes on a regular basis because if not you’re really gross. Maybe you want your baths to be a bit more fun, though. What if every bath ended in you getting a new Dragon Quest toy? That’s what the Dragon Quest Bath Balls will do for you.

While bathing you can place one of these Slime shaped bath fizzers into your bath water and it’ll fizzle away until it reveals one of nine little Dragon Quest toys. The fizzes were released last month and have been delighting bathing folks since then, but a few import sites have boxes left. They do come in sets of 12 so if you want all nine you’ll most likely need to get more than one box since I’m guessing you’ll get some dupes in a single box.

You can pick them up at AmiAmi for 3,350 yen ($40) or Hobby Search for 3,876 yen (~$46). Just don’t send in photos of you using them. Slimes fizzing away while you bathe is one of those things that no one else needs to see.

+ Highlander game canceled. There was a Highlander game? By Admin 11 December 2010 at 9:00 am and have No Comments

Highlander game canceled. There was a Highlander game? screenshot

Ready for this? We’re about to jump back 2 million internet years (about three normal years) to January of 2008 when we got our first look at Eidos’s in development game based on the Highlander franchise. *wavey fingers* And we’re here.

OK, now come back to now. The game, which was headed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, has been canceled by the folks at Square Enix who now own Eidos. I’m sure we’re all reeling right not from this news so I’m just going to let it sink in. Are we better? Tears cleaned up?

No one actually remembered this game existed, did they? Who knows what prompted IGN to ask about it, but other than the fact that WideScreen Games is no longer working on the title and that it has officially been canceled Square Enix isn’t giving any details. Probably because they know no one actually cares at this point.

+ Dtoid Live: Saturday Morning Hangover! By Admin 11 December 2010 at 8:00 am and have No Comments

Dtoid Live: Saturday Morning Hangover! screenshot

Feeling a little bit under the weather this morning? Come and join Jordan Devore, the always lovely ImpossiblePlant and myself for Saturday Morning Hangover, a new weekly livestream on Destructoid’s Justin.tv channel. Yay!

From 10-12pm CouchToid will be playing the week’s Xbox Live Indie Games for as long as we can stomach them. And then it’s entirely likely that we’ll be getting some time in on Earth Defense Force 2017, which is always good for a laugh.  So come hang out with us in the chat and give us hell over the video being choppy (something I’ve worked for five hours to fix and is as good as it’s going to get today, thank you very much).

Afterwards join Dtoid HQ for Splatterhouse hosted by Jon Carnage, Jonathan Holmes, Pico, and Venom.  We’ll also be giving away some prizes and educating you on the world of wrestling.  Come hang out with us!

+ Custom Zerg Queen statue will scare you on a daily basis By Admin 11 December 2010 at 5:00 am and have No Comments

Custom Zerg Queen statue will scare you on a daily basis screenshot

Check out this custom statue of Kerrigan Zerg Queen of Blades from StarCraft 2. It took blogger Sabretooth two months to put it all together and it came out incredibly well. It’s 18″ tall and you can get your hands on it by buying it on eBay. You can also check out the artist’s blog and maybe try your hand at making it yourself.

Tell us how that works out for you. I’m picturing a Destructoid reader covered in resin with a statue arm stuck in his ear.

I will not be buying this. For one, I’m not that big a StarCraft fan and two it would scare the piss out of me. What if you woke up in the middle of the night and forgot you had it and then rolled over and saw it. There go the sheets and whatever pajamas you’re wearing. I only have one pair of fluffy pajamas with the footies on them. I can’t ruin them with fear pee.

Starcraft II fans, eat your hearts out! Check out this custom Zerg Queen statue [Tomopop]

+ Link to the Future tee is all sorts of cool By Admin 11 December 2010 at 3:00 am and have No Comments

Link to the Future tee is all sorts of cool screenshot

Gaming related clothes; they can go terribly wrong. But sometimes they go terribly right. The clothing over at Level Up Studios does the latter most of the time and one of their newest shirts is most definitely terribly right. It’s a mash-up of The Legend of Zelda and Back to the Future: A Link to the Future. Get it?!

The art was done by Caldwell Tanner after a joke started over at Haloz.com. It is now in shirt form for $18.99 in mens and $19.99 in womens.

But wait, there’s more. I’d just urge you to head over to Level Up’s page because they’ve got some awesome new stuff (and some great old stuff if you’ve never been there). I’ve put money down on both the Mega Man and Mario word shirts. They’re so cool that people who aren’t even into gaming will now be getting them as Christmas presents.

+ The Daily Hotness: ‘Bout time By Admin 10 December 2010 at 5:00 pm and have No Comments

The Daily Hotness: 'Bout time screenshot

The Rock Band keyboard is pretty great and all (Pro mode or bust), but unless you’re skilled, chances are you have been playing the same five or so songs. Granted, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, it’ll be nice to finally have some Billy Joel tracks. You know, more than a month after release. Thanks.

In today’s fast-flying world of videogame news, Quake Arena randomly got dated for XBLA, EA listed Mass Effect 3 as a thing that is happening, one of the many annoying Call of Duty players got himself in jail, and we now know how Catherine will play. Maybe.

Here, have some new Prinny 2 footage

+ Here, have some new Prinny 2 footage By Admin 10 December 2010 at 4:00 pm and have No Comments

Here, have some new Prinny 2 footage screenshot

Hard to imagine they not only made the original Prinny offshoot game, but that NIS is moving full steam ahead with the sequel Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood! for PlayStation Portable. I still prefer the Japanese subtitle — Dawn of the Great Pantsu Wars — but I’m more than grateful for what we’re getting.

Easily the best part of this new in-game footage is that the person playing totally dies. It’s not embarrassing so much as it is an accurate depiction of what Prinny 2 will involve. Find the second half of this demonstration below.
