Pimp your favorite Marvel Comics girls in Marvel Brothel 06 November 2010 at 5:00 am by Admin

Despite the internet's consistent ability to prove otherwise, there are things which I simply never expected to see with my own eyes. An example, just off the top of my head, is a game in which you play as X-Men founder Charles Xavier, who has decided to make whores of various ladies in the Marvel Comics universe in an effort to improve human-mutant relations.

That's not so absurd, right? Much weirder things have cropped up. What makes it so odd is that Marvel Brothel takes itself pretty seriously as a management sim goes and doesn't take long to get tough. And for a game in which the primary activity is pairing couples to engage in intercourse, it's also pretty squeaky clean with nothing vulgar shown and predictably bad but largely innocent dialogue.

Amazingly, Marvel Brothel has been available for download since January. Either word is only now getting out or I completely missed it. I care not. This thing is amazing and it's only a matter of time before lawyers make it less accessible. Go give it a peep.

+ Warren Spector discusses Epic Mickey’s obscurer characters By Admin 06 November 2010 at 4:00 am and have No Comments

Disney Interactive Studios released another behind-the-scenes video for Epic Mickey. This one is pretty interesting, as Warren Spector talks about lesser-known characters from the Disney universe that he's bringing back for the game.

That said, there are a couple of really bold suggestions in this. Such as Spector thinking that this game might put Mickey Mouse on par with characters like Mario and Sonic. As mascot characters go, there's few more popular globally than Mickey but those are huge names to try and take on at this point. Best of luck, Warren.

+ Persona 2 PSP comes with an old-school music toggle By Admin 06 November 2010 at 3:00 am and have No Comments

While fans of old-school RPGs rejoiced when Atlus' enhanced port of the original Persona game hit the PlayStation Portable, a few of the more crotchety devotees complained about director/composer Shoji Meguro's rearranged musical score. It was a minor complaint to be sure, but it seems Atlus has taken it to heart for their work on the upcoming port of Persona 2: Innocent Sin, especially since they've declared that the port was being done for older fans of the series.

To that end, Persona 2: Innocent Sin PSP will have both the original and rearranged music available in-game, and players will be able to switch between soundtracks on the fly. Talk about bending over backwards to satisfy some folks, right?

Yup, it's that time again! Black Friday is coming up soon and the ads are already leaking! We can't say for sure that this Sears ad is legit until Sears makes the Black Friday sites take the images down, so we're putting this under rumor for the time being. If these ads turn out to be legit, then damn does Sears have some good deals.

Most notable here is the reveal of a green DSi. Red and green colored DSis? HEY THAT'S CHRISTMAS COLORS! Other notable deals include the slightly discounted Wii and the Xbox 360 that comes with a free copy of Halo: Reach which you ironically won't be able to play properly because this is a 4GB model of the Xbox 360. You need a harddrive in order to do co-op.

Sears also plans to sell bundles of the PS3 and PSP, both of which will include the worst romantic comedy movie of the year, The Karate Kid.

Last week, I got the chance to catch up with Edmund McMillen, co-creator of Super Meat Boy. I asked him how he felt about the critical reception that the game has received so far, about our chances for a Super Meat Boy 2, and what he's working on right now. I also confront him about my one complaint about Super Meat Boy. It got tense.

His responses may shock you. There is also some potentially disturbing images of animals being slaughtered here, so watch out for that too. All around, this video isn't for the faint of heart. I hope that those of you with a strong stomach enjoy it. The rest of you, please don't watch it.

Not kidding.

+ Blizzard discusses putting Activision games on Battle.net By Admin 05 November 2010 at 9:00 pm and have No Comments

Everyone seems to be obsessing over the possibility of Activision adopting Battle.net for its games. It's an interesting notion, but Blizzard hasn't really spoken one way or the other on the topic. Perhaps this Gamasutra interview with Battle.net project director Greg Canessa will give us something to go on.

"Bobby Kotick and all the folks at Activision are very, very supportive of Battle.net and what we're doing," he explains. "Having said that, as you know, Blizzard and Activision are really two separate entities, and we really do our own thing."

"There are huge opportunities in front of us with new games, with licensing opportunities, with movies, and other things we have going on, and the risk is that we get distracted off of what we're really good at, which is making kick-ass entertainment experience. So, for today, it's Blizzard games."

"Some day," Canessa continues, "maybe we add other titles in there. Who knows? When we really feel like we've really delivered that kick-ass set of experiences for Blizzard games, and we feel like we've grown the team — and you've heard some of my challenges growing the team and finding the talent — when I've got that sustainability, when we really feel like we've got that dialed in and nailed down, you know, who knows what the future holds."

TL;DR: Activision games may one day support Battle.net, but not anytime soon. The more you know!
