Gamers eager to get their hands on Red Dead Redemption have been throwing questions Rockstar’s way. What does this mean for us? Answers! Answers to questions not submitted by psychopaths, because I hear the studio has a rigorous screening process — hence why they won’t return my emails.
The questions this week were almost exclusively related to multiplayer. Many were just about game mechanics and the like, which is perfectly fine, but I was more interested in the following: “will we be able to swim?,” and “can your horse jump?”
“John has no problem wading,” says Rockstar, “but if he gets too deep, he will drown.” Huh. As for the second question, your horse can in fact jump and it will even “vault over low objects and avoid other obstacles” automatically.
No joke, the first thing I’m going to do when I get Red Dead Redemption is have my horse leap directly into deep water. Either the horse will A) float, B) drown, or C) glitch out and send us skyrocketing into the air. I sincerely hope it’s that last one.
[Thanks, Martin]

Ready your index finger, because you’re about to click the play/pause button a bunch of times.
As promised, GameTrailers released the debut teaser trailer for the Treyarch-developed Call of Duty: Black Ops. The key word here is “teaser,” folks — the gameplay is A) shown in ridiculously short snippets and B) hard to make out. Like I said, be ready to press that handy pause button.
We were told Black Ops will take us to such locations as the Arctic, Cuba, and Vietnam. Based on what’s shown here, that’s definitely looking accurate. I’ll be interested to hear if the flashbacks are as integral to the game as this video would have us believe.
On that note, anything that reminds me of Jacob’s Ladder is a good thing.
EA has released the Skate 3 TV ad and it barely shows the game off! A majority of the commercial is of people going bat sh*t crazy as others are skateboarding on the ramp. The commercial ends with a few seconds of actual Skate 3 gameplay, which I guess is just enough to get the TV viewing audience interested in the game.
Skate 3 is out on May 11 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. For more on the game, check out Ben PerLee’s preview. Also, is that a horse at the very end of the ad about to skate on the ramp?! Rad!
Apparently, PlayStation 3 is the game console of choice for villains. First there was Darth Vader in Soulcalibur IV, then the Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum, and now it’s been revealed that you can control Emperor Zurg in Toy Story 3 if you own the PS3 version.
Also exclusive to PlayStation 3 is Move support, which makes a lot more sense. Specifically, the motion controller will be limited to minigames, with a shooting gallery the only example given. We have to start somewhere with the Natal/Move support, right?
For those wanting additional insight on Toy Story 3, producer John Day talks about how the game is split into two distinct modes over on the PlayStation Blog. Personally, I’m still feeling positive about this one. Crazy, I know.
Mad Catz is continuing with its agenda to put out a stick for every fighting game under the sun. Earlier this month we got our hands on sexier, slimmer Super Street Fighter 4 sticks. In June, we’ll be able to get down with some very special edition Blaz Blue Continuum Shift sticks.
Announced this morning by Aksys Games, and sold exclusively through them, these sticks are said to be spectacularly limited in numbers. From what we understand, there’s only 3,000 sticks (1,500 are numbered), which means if you’re a Blaz Blue fan with some extra clink in his pocket, you may want to act now and pre-order one of these 200-dollar beasts.

You’d think we’re Tomopop with all of our toy news today! Our latest bit of toy news comes from Capcom-Unity with an early look at SOTA toy’s 10th anniversary Ryu statue. The statue is 18-inches and it’s promising to be the best statue SOTA has ever made.
SOTA will be incorporating more electronics and effects than they have ever done and will be “a culmination of 10 years of experience.” Pretty bold words but the early preview of the Ryu figure seems to back up their claim. The figure will be out sometime after October this year.

We’re only a few hours away from the first trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops, but we’ve already got some new information, thanks to a Games.co.uk product listing.
According to a description on a product page, the upcoming game will find players fighting battles in various areas of the world, including Cuba, Vietnam, and the Arctic.
“Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done,” the site’s description continued.
It’s since been pulled, but was quickly snapped up by MTV Multiplayer before it was yanked. I’d imagine we’ll be hearing more information in the coming weeks leading up to and into E3, so stay tuned.
