In case you didn’t get a newsletter direct from Nintendo, be aware that Club Nintendo has been updated with a few new rewards: Game & Watch Collection 2 for DS (800 Coins), Grill-Off with Ultra Hand for WiiWare (80 Coins), and a sweet three-poster set for Mario fans (350 Coins).
Up until this mini announcement, I had completely forgotten Club Nintendo even existed. I then went on to remember how I had never registered any of my Nintendo products before, and proceeded to wrack up enough Coins to get the neat poster set that’s now supposedly en route to my house.
Here’s the tricky part — do I put the “Mario’s History” poster somewhere in my office, or like most cool things, should it go up in my bathroom? Decisions, decisions.

Please, oh, please let Naval Assault: The Killing Tide incorporate something from Wolfgang Petersen’s Das Boot. It can be anything, really. Milky white cast members with bad teeth and equally bad VO would be huge … but we’ll settle for a Type VIIC-class U-boat, which from the sound of it at least, seems all but uber-confirmed.
Artech Studios and 505 Games announced Naval Assault last afternoon, calling it an “arcade style submarine title.” It’s an Xbox 360 exclusive that is set to support several four-person multiplayer modes and have a campaign offering that will have you squaring off as an Allied submarine commander against the Axis powers in World War II. It hits June 15th — the same day George Washington was named the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army in 1775.

Hey guys, we know you like to have your fun, voice your opinions, and argue over your favorite game, but over the past few days the tone in comments has really gotten out of hand. What is normally a charged — but fun — environment for our users and editors has become mean, ugly, pointless, and frankly threatening in some situations… and that’s just not acceptable. Some of you out there in the world of anonymous grandstanding have gotten the impression that you run the place, but that’s simply not the case.
Luckily, our commenting community makes up only a small percentage of our readership (and the bad eggs an even smaller part of that number), so while they may be loud, they don’t speak for most people who come to Destructoid looking for game news. Regardless, we’re going to crank things down for a little bit to let everyone video chat instead, and we’ll switch them back on when we feel like we’ve shaken some of the trolls and spammers loose from the branches (AKA it’s Chatroulette time). See you on the other side!
A wise man who reads the Internet would wait a couple of days or weeks before dropping $34.99 on a Used copy of Killzone 2. A recent Wal-Mart advertisement, spotted and then shared by a NeoGAF member, is pegging several high profile titles as future Greatest Hits releases. Killzone 2 is a part of the list of new entrants discovered. Also included are LittleBigPlanet GOTY edition, inFAMOUS, UFC 2009, and Resistance 2.
As 1UP notes, the flyer lists the price as $29.83, which is probably a few cents short off the mark. Regardless, these games are probably going to be mad cheap real soon. What will you do with all that extra clink?

The next Final Fantasy MMO will be a hard sell for some. The last was wicked slow and unrewarding. But it had some interesting and unique ideas, some of which will hopefully see the light of day again in Final Fantasy XIV. It’ll be a bit before we know for sure — months after release even if the snorefest grind of FFXI sees reimplementation — but we can at least say that the game looks pretty.
Square Enix Japan has released a new video (available below the fold) for the game on their YouTube channel. On top of having some light (Japanese) narration, it proudly displays game’s visuals by giving viewers a virtual tour of a city and its people. Notice that not even a single person is crafting Beetle Armor. What a disappointment.

Why am I just now hearing about Fractured Soul?! This game looks amazing and reminds me a lot of Metroid. About time the 2D Metroid hole gets filled in by someone for the DS!

A survey asking for opinions on multiplayer maps as well as whether or not Modern Warfare 2 players intentionally strive to unlock new callsigns and emblems was sent out by Ubisoft. Like most surveys even vaguely related to videogames, there was a story to be found in the types of questions being asked.
This is purely speculative, but considering how the survey was posted on the Twitter feed of Ubisoft senior community developer Kimi Matsuzaki — and how her page is plastered with Ghost Recon: Future Soldier art — this survey will probably play some role in the development of that game. The key word being “probably.”
While the survey itself is no longer viewable since the user cap for the free web-based software used was hit already, G4 has a lovely screencap of the questions. Personally, I’m open to updated versions of fan favorite maps and think silly unlockable things and experience are important in multiplayer games.
What about you? Who knows, Ubisoft might be listening.

NBA Jam is a revival of a classic game, so it stands to reason that the Wii-exclusive title will feature classic players. MTV Multiplayer confirmed this when they spoke to the game’s creative director, Trey Smith, about the main gameplay mode in NBA Jam, Classic Campaign.
Just like in the old days, the campaign is a ”worst-to-first ladder tournament”; the 2010 NBA champion will be the penultimate opponent, and in the final battle, you’ll face off against the legendary duo of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
Smith wouldn’t reveal any other special characters, so we’ll just have to wait and see if EA Canada includes, say, the Chicago Bulls mascot for old time’s sake. NBA Jam is due out this fall. If you want to see it in motion, check out the debut trailer here.
