And in more serious news, Evony is a giant scam. But you didn’t need me to tell you that.

+ This video almost proves Blur is a sequel to Ghostbusters By Admin 30 November 2009 at 10:00 pm and have No Comments

Now I don’t know how indicative these trailers are of what Bizarre Creations’ Blur actually looks like with a controller in your hand, but they remind me of the now-we’re-going-really-fast-bro moments in The Fast and the Furious combined with the paranormal fun of Ghostbusters.

You may think those cars are engulfed in electricity or even flames, but you’d be wrong. I’m telling you, it’s the ghosts. Plus, Ghostbusters NES had realistic driving simulation in it. This basically is the sequel, guys.

The little beginning segment alludes to Blur’s social networking/community stuff, but honestly, it’s all about those power-ups. Again, if these videos are representative of the full game, anyone who isn’t in last place will be getting shot at constantly, meaning lots of potential crashes.

Kids, if a stranger offers you a blue shell, just say “no.”

+ News flash: a lot of people bought Xbox 360s last week By Admin 30 November 2009 at 9:00 pm and have No Comments

News flash: a lot of people bought Xbox 360s last week screenshot

As expected, people bought things during Black Friday. While we’d love to give you a comprehensive report on the number of GE blenders sold during the American free-for-all, it just wouldn’t fit with the rest of the content on our Web page. What does, though, is Aaron Greenberg’s broad announcement of Xbox 360 sales during the week of Black Friday (which, by the way, seems like something the platform publisher should be celebrating soon).

According to a recent tweet by the Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE director of product management, the Xbox 360 experienced the “biggest sales week of the year” during Black Friday week, successfully doing more than “[two times the] previous week sales.”

The exact figure hasn’t been revealed as of yet, but we’re guessing more than two or three Xbox 360s flew off the shelves during last week. Regardless, we’ll know soon enough and will definitely share the information with you when it comes in.

+ Nintendo sold 1.5 million systems last week By Admin 30 November 2009 at 8:00 pm and have No Comments

Nintendo sold 1.5 million systems last week screenshot

Breaking down its own performance during last week — November 22 through Nov. 28 — Nintendo says it sold 1.5 million gaming systems during the craziest of crazy shopping periods. That’s estimated to be 550,000+ Wii consoles and 1,000,000+ DS and DSi handhelds.

Or in mind-boggling, we-effin’-print-money lingo, Nintendo sold more than 2.5 videogame systems every second during Thanksgiving week. Go ahead, blink. While you were wasting your tragic life doing that, hundreds of dollars were spent on Nintendo systems. You’ll never be this successful.

Your mother and I aren’t mad, we’re just disappointed is all.

+ Public Access Destructoid starts now with Jon Carnage By Admin 30 November 2009 at 6:13 pm and have No Comments

Welcome to Destructoid’s new late night show! We have a great lineup for you today and an exclusive trailer of Fighting the Kings. I’m sorry this is like 13 minutes late, I was stuck in traffic and then plus a bee bit me, I took a photo.  Public Access Destructoid was Rey’s idea and I wrote the theme song kind of.  Ok, I lied. It’s not my song so I changed it so we don’t get into laws. This is the season 1, and the first one, episode 1.

My team of 147 writers, producers, and dancers put a lot of work into this program to put you entertained! But there’s some things we didn’t do because video is expensive. That’s actually my ex-wife’s camera we are using and I don’t even have to give it back.  Some things didn’t go as planned. We all chipped in to hire a girl that looks exactly like Princess Leia, but Craiglist said I shouldn’t have sent her the money first, so my friend Jon said he could do the show.  Let us know what you think by calling our number or the comments if you want.

I’m lucky to have a real pro like him working for us because Jon is a journalist and wears suits even when there’s not even girls here. Please donate so we can get him a better tie cuz I don’t like his that much. If you are in the Miami area and want to be on the show I can ask my dad.

PS. If I had a dollar for every hack poser trying to be the Daily Show of video games I’d buy me a gold chain.  I dedicate PAD to you, your awesome funny writers, your super cool news set, and your ladies counting down the days of their contracts…

HELLO EBRYNYAN.

Today, Chad lit the fires on our big ol’ fat list of the top 50 videogames of the decade. It was like a nice picnic where everyone held hands and ate macaroni salad together and agreed on everything. Stay tuned for more of that every day this week as his list-a-thon continues.

+ Monday Mind Teasers: Road Blocks By Admin 30 November 2009 at 4:00 pm and have No Comments

Monday Mind Teasers: Road Blocks screenshot

Many of you will know exactly how this week’s game is played just by looking at the picture above. There’s been dozens of these ball bounce puzzle mazes over the years, and they never get old to me. With this one being released wayyyy back in 2004, chances are good you’ve even played it in the past. Trust me, it doesn’t get any less stressful on each replay!

It might look as simple as navigating from point A to point B, but with the majority of the maze’s walls missing, it makes choosing the correct path much more difficult. Add in a few teleport and other trick blocks, and you’ve got yourself a game that I’m sorry to torture you with so late at night. Good luck finishing the rest of your homework now!

Last week a few of you brought up that you miss the old format of these Monday Mind Teasers, and guess what? Me too! The problem is that I had been doing them every week for almost three years, and was starting to run out of game covers and themes to use! You can count on me going back and forth every few months, so that I get a regular buffer to work with. Keep an eye out for the return of the old format soon!

You can play Road Blocks here on Newgrounds.

P.S. Tomorrow is your last chance to vote on last week’s Super Mario series game debate!

+ Call of Duty: Classic hits this Wednesday By Admin 30 November 2009 at 3:45 pm and have No Comments

Call of Duty: Classic hits this Wednesday screenshot

Soon even the soft or less-elite modern combat veterans will be able to get in on the World War II arcade shooter action. Infinity Ward’s downloadable, Call of Duty: Classic, is set to make its proper debut over Xbox LIVE Arcade on Wednesday.

A recent tweet by European Xbox LIVE man Graeme Boyd (via Kotaku) revealed as much, adding that the downloadable will set Euro gamers back 1,200 Microsoft Bucks. US Xbox LIVE man Major Nelson followed soon after via his blog, echoing the price point.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 “Hardened” and “Prestige” special edition owners have had access to Call of Duty: Classic since MW2’s launch earlier this November, but this is the first time we’ve seen a firm release date for the mass launch of the downloadable.

Don’t know what Classic is all about? Check out our Ten Minute Taste above.

+ Capcom announces Final Fight: Double Impact By Admin 30 November 2009 at 3:30 pm and have No Comments

Capcom announces Final Fight: Double Impact screenshot

As reported, Final Fight and Magic Sword are heading to PSN and Xbox LIVE Arcade this April as part of a lone release called Final Fight: Double Impact. Publisher Capcom made it official-official in a press release blasted this afternoon.

Calloused thumbs may aid recalling what these two games are all about: moving from left to right while hitting people at the same time. How retro.

Most of the games’ content won’t be altered — the descriptions in the press release feel familiar. The biggest change comes as an addition: online cooperative play, which will utilize the studio’s “GPPO” network tech. In a recent Capcom-Unity post, Capcom’s Seth Killian was rather high on GPPO, advising us all to check it out and “become a believer!” in its ability in bringing the arcade experience across the ‘net.

New, toggle-able HD visuals rendered via Capcom’s engine as well a new soundtrack created by the composers who scored the Bionic Commando: Rearmed will be included in the package as well.

No word on pricing still, but do expect Final Fight: Double Impact April 2010. Long live Haggar!

+ Are you ready for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter? By Admin 30 November 2009 at 3:00 pm and have No Comments

Are you ready for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter? screenshot

Gentlemen, ready your chainsaws.

I ask that you take a break from your Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter killfest to listen up: Devolver Digital is putting The Second Encounter through the same HD-ification process and hopes to get the game out to us by early 2010.

The studio will be making co-op competitive with a new tournament mode — teams compete against one another while blasting away at everything that moves. If you’re in the market for pure, unadulterated FPS action, look no further than these games. The beautiful new aesthetic is only an added bonus.

Surely we will be holding our “S” keys (or if you are the courageous type, the “W” key) while left-clicking for many more years to come.

“SAM I AM.”
