Little known fact: the General Knoxx of “The Secret Armory of General Knoxx,” the upcoming third Borderlands DLC expansion, is a real person. Well, real enough to have a Twitter account at least.
“okay. so my secretary signed me up for this thing.apparently i have to be careful about how many words i type or it won’t send the entire me,” he writes before running out of characters in his introductory Tweet.
If you’re wondering what the deal with the lower-case is, Knoxx explains that “no one capitalizes in the future,” and that his “tweets time travel.” Knoxx has also already taken a picture of himself in a mirror with his “cellular ear ringer,” and has begun talking sh*t to fellow Twitter users.
“watch your step boy. i lost my eye in a fight with myself,” he threatens to one. “ps. i won.”
Rumor has it that General Knoxx just may be delivering some actual (useful?) information on the upcoming DLC, so he’s probably worth following his “tweetergrams.”

I’ve been playing a lot of The Saboteur. Despite its immediate flaws — clunky combat, oddly centered cars, and tedious side objectives — I’ve found the fun to be had in its pulp and monochrome-colored universe. Sure, I like it but what does the mighty Twitter-verse think? Spoiler: they’re in the middle.
According to the sentiment aggregator Social Mention*, the majority of tweets about the game have been neutral over the last 30 days. People are flashing Raptr links much more than they are praising or slamming old Pandemic’s last videogame.
A total of 18 “positive” mentions have been made, while a mere five tweets have voiced something that triggered the “negative” label. A whopping 209 “neutral” micro-blasts round out the total of 232 tweets.
I asked my followers what they thought. User @MonstroUK broke the character limit explaining his enjoyment. “I liked it because it had a lot of open-world content,” He said. “Sandbox games are my fav sub genre, and I play them for the mechanics, environment, and progression. Not for the story,” he added. “If those (said) things are solid, I’m hooked.”
How do you think the game stacks up? Tell us and feel free to discuss why you do or why you don’t dig it.
*Social Mention is not a place to gather scientific data. In fact, the sentiment gathering in general is fairly broken. We’re using it as a simple gauge (used at 8:30 EST) and no more. Feel free to toss us your opinion about the game, via the comments.
Valve’s co-op zombie shooter has made quite a few references to Simon Pegg’s classic Shaun of the Dead in the past, from Louis’ costume in Left 4 Dead 1 to the cricket bat melee weapon in Left 4 Dead 2. Today, Pegg himself been getting to grips with the latter game, and he seems to like it!
“Left 4 Dead 2 inserted. I have not come this far, to die now. Yo zombies … Let’s go,” Tweets Pegg. “Using the cricket bat. Feels right.”
Pegg’s initial impressions are glowingly positive: “This game is all kinds of awesome. Love the Zs too. Somehow fast is OK here. Good combo of Romero lethargy and 28 Days beserker rage. Sweet!”
So there you have it. Simon Pegg is an authority on all things undead, and he approves of Left 4 Dead 2. In case you needed any further proof that this game is terrific fun, you now have Pegg’s seal of approval. He even likes the fact that they’re the fast-style “Infected” as opposed to his preferred shamblers.
Now all we need to do is work out his Gamertag and stalk him … uh … I mean, not stalk him.

This story has America’s Next Top Model, Warcraft and Nude in the headline. Pageview City, here we come. Let’s be honest, there really is no other reason to post a bad, blurry image of Adrianne Curry playing World of Warcraft completely in the nuddy. Still, who cares? It’s a naked woman, and Lord knows we don’t see enough of those on the Internet.
The Next Top Model girl Tweeted this photograph of her and I’m sure it wasn’t for attention or anything. It was accompanied by the simply message: “Me…naked…playing World Of Warcraft ; )” If there is one thing you can’t fault this woman on, it’s false advertising.
So yeah. You can now feel free to ask if it’s a slow news day or question why this is on the frontpage. All I know is that JOURNALISM has been done this day, my friends. I have no regrets.
It’s entirely possible you’ve already received this update — Assassin’s Creed 2 and/or Left 4 Dead 2 midnight launches and all — but the Xbox LIVE Update is now… well, live.
The update brings a slew of new features including Facebook, the new Zune video marketplace, Twitter, and Last.fm. All you need to do in order to receive the update is turn on your Xbox 360 and all of this new stuff will be there. Pretty easy, right?
I’ve been using the new features for awhile, and I must admit I haven’t touched the Twitter or Facebook apps since testing them out for our video preview. Last.fm, on the other hand, has been awesome with one exception — during long listening periods, the program will detect “inactivity” and ask you if you’re still listening. That’s fine — why would they waste bandwidth on someone who’s not listening? The problem — it does it in the middle of a song. Really, guys?
After you update, let us know how you like the new features, and which ones (if any) you’ll be using the most.
Last week we talked about Modern Warfare 2’s upcoming Avatar gear, some of which was suggested might be free. Well, it’s out tomorrow, but it sure as heck ain’t free! Step right up folks, for a cavalcade of digital clothing that will cost you plenty of fake Moon Money.
Robert Bowling confirmed via Twitter that Infinity Ward was uploading new MW2 Avatar stuff and showed off the Ghost outfit pictured. He also made sure to let PS3 owners know they weren’t being left out, with a selection of Dynamic Themes planned for the Black Box o’ Blu-ray.
Bowling said also that he asked for some free goodies, but was “denied” by some mysterious authoratarian entity. So there you go. If you’ve got some money left after buying the Prestige Edition, the premium strategy guide, and the energy drink, you’ll have plenty more content to buy!
Early adopter burning FTW! Nintendo has announced that, less than a year after the launch of the DSi, a brand new, bigger, better DSi is on the way. We had already heard that a DSi with a bigger screen was coming, but today we have been given the new system’s name, as well as the first images and specs.
The DSi LL will be getting a chunkier stylus, but aside from that, standalone pics of the system don’t make it look any different from your average DSi. However, put it next to an older model and the significant size difference is clear. The DSi LL is ludicrously larger than the DSi.
The DSi LL will launch with three colors — dark brown, wine red, and natural white. Nintendo has confirmed that the new version will be more expensive than the original DSi, due to its size. At least in Japan, the LL will ship with some DSiWare already loaded into the internal memory, but details about international launches are thin on the ground for right now (although a Euro release is confirmed).
If you want more information than you need, the DSi LL is 161×91.4×21.2mm in size and weighs 314g. It also has around two hours of extra battery life compared to the DSi.
So there you are. Sorry if you already bought a DSi, but Nintendo has a better one now. The best part is, if you bought DSiWare games for your original DSi, you can’t upgrade without losing those games. Gotta love Nintendo and its ability to release ten billion versions of one handheld.

Maybe, just maybe, a patch will reinvigorate what little online community for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood there is left. Assuming there is any at all.
Up for download on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game as of today, the patch aims to balance multiplayer classes, create smoother matches, and "significantly reduce" checkpoint load times for PS3 users.
• Spy: damage increased; health increased;
• Gunslinger: recoil reduced; accuracy improved;
• Hombre: recoil and reload time increased; damage at long range significantly reduced;
• Veteran: health and accuracy decreased; additional pistols removed;
• Sniper: no-scope accuracy and damage significantly reduced; health decreased; sidearm Ranger swapped for Classic Gun
Even though I’ve failed to pick up Bound in Blood yet, it’s on my to-buy list. When it becomes slightly more affordable, that is. My favorite thing about playing videogames months after their original release is seeing the prompt to download an update, which will now be the case for this title.
Like the smell of a newly-opened game, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. There’s no hope for me, I know.
According to Cyptic Studios’ Bill Roper, a big surprise is slated to hit Champions Online in 2010.
In a recent State of the Game address to Champions faithful (via Cinema Blend) the design director laid out what the team is doing behind the scenes in the MMO, mentioning several core changes and teasing a big reveal.
"We’re working on ‘Flashbacks’ that will let you replay missions you’ve previously completed but want to try again,” he said. “There is a new repeatable Lair in the works that will feature some very special villains, as well as one that will shake you to the core of your reality.”
He added that Cryptic is “making passes” on the power tree, and plan to roll out balance changes in a matter of weeks. Then, Roper teased the big deal: “We’re also starting work on our Winter Event that will roll out in December. And there’s the very big surprise we have in store for early 2010 … ”
Considering the nature of a surprise, we haven’t the slightest what Roper is talking about, unless of course, it’s that previously mentioned villain that he says will “shake” players “to the core of [their] reality.” We’ll have to see in 2010.
