+ Flight Control PS3 supports 3D, comes with exclusive map By Admin 16 August 2010 at 6:40 am and have No Comments

Flight Control PS3 supports 3D, comes with exclusive map screenshot

We had already confirmed the Firemint’s Flight Control HD was coming to the PlayStation Network. We told you it would work with PlayStation Move. We told you that if you didn’t have PlayStation Move, you could play it with your standard DualShock 3 or SIXAXIS controller. Here’s what we didn’t tell you (because Firemint decided to tell us about it today) — you’ll also be able to play it in 3D!

Yes, you’ll be able to experience the joys of flight landing direction in eye-popping stereoscopic 3D, provided you have the 3D television and 3D glasses to make it so. According to Firemint, the 3D you’ll be experiencing will be the aircraft floating over the landscape.

Flight Control HD on PSN will also ship with an exclusive “super-sized” map called “Metropolis” which will cycle between day and night. The game will be available for download from the PlayStation Store on September 15, just in time for your Move purchase. Firemint has yet to reveal pricing.

+ Cave bring three shmups to Xbox 360 By Admin 16 August 2010 at 6:20 am and have No Comments

Cave bring three shmups to Xbox 360 screenshot

When I saw how lovely Dodonpachi: Resurrection looked on the iPhone, I couldn’t help but want a bigger version. On a disc. For a controller.

My wish has been granted, and then some. Dodonpachi: Resurrection is coming out on November 25th in Japan…on disc! Announced at the Cave summer festival, this release comes with HD graphics and two new arrange modes, says Siliconera. If that news wasn’t good enough, Cave is also releasing two other ports on a single disc for your Xbox 360. Pink Sweets and Muchi Muchi Pork (delicious!) are coming next spring, both packed with girls, wispy hair and bullets. Famitsu has plenty to look at, but there’s little in the way of details on the release.

+ Subway, Sony partner to bring you tasty meals, prizes By Admin 16 August 2010 at 6:00 am and have No Comments

Subway, Sony partner to bring you tasty meals, prizes screenshot

Fun fact: Destructoid’s Dale North hates Subway about as much as he loves his PlayStation 3. So this new marketing alliance between Sony and the sandwich franchise is going to tear him apart. Sony has announced that it’s partnered with Subway in a collaboration called “Fiery Football Frenzy Fueled by PlayStation.”

What this is means is that Subway will be carrying some kind of Sony PlayStation-branded sandwiches called the “Fiery Footlongs,” which are apparently the spiciest subs the franchise has carried to date. This will include the spicy New Turkey Jalapeno Melt and the Buffalo Chicken. You get these things in a meal, you have the chance to win some PlayStation stuff, including: Move before it’s even available on store shelves, that super limited edition Uncharted 2 “Fortune Hunter” Edition and more.

Honestly, I can’t even believe I wrote that last paragraph. This is going to be one weird week, I can just feel it.

+ Marley, INXS, Slipknot and more confirmed for Rock Band 3 By Admin 16 August 2010 at 5:40 am and have No Comments

Marley, INXS, Slipknot and more confirmed for Rock Band 3 screenshot

Eurogamer has the details on 10 more tracks that will makes their way to the Rock Band 3 disc this October, and it’s music from artists spanning the globe. Whether you’re looking from music from Germany or Australia or Mexico, Harmonix and MTV have got you covered.

  • Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Get Up, Stand Up
  • INXS’ Need You Tonight
  • Poni Hoax’ Antibodies
  • Rammstein’s Du Hast
  • Roxette’s The Look
  • Tokio Hotel’s Humanoid
  • HIM’s Killing Loneliness
  • Maná’s Oye Mi Amor
  • Slipknot’s Before I Forget
  • War’s Low Rider

Rock Band 3 is out October 29. I’ve played it, and despite Harmonix trying to sabotage my enjoyment the game by including a Bob Marley track (the new song filtering options are a welcome addition), it’s looking good.

+ Hunted’s pre-order items revealed, are all over the place By Admin 16 August 2010 at 4:40 am and have No Comments

Hunted's pre-order items revealed, are all over the place screenshot

inXile’s third-person action dungeon crawler-y thing, Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, isn’t out until next year. But that’s not stopping the game’s publisher, Bethesda Softworks, from dropping a slew of pre-order items all over North American consumers right now.

As is becoming the norm with these types of things, figuring out what you get and where you get it requires its own Prima Strategy guide, because it’s all over the place. There’s the “Darkset” pack, and you get that from GameStop. Then there’s the “Griffin” pack, and you get that from Best Buy. The “Demon” pack (my favorite, in name, of the bunch) you get from Amazon.com and Direct2Drive. Or you know, order from Walmart (in store or online) or get the game from Steam, you’ll get the “Assassin” pack.

What do you get in each pack? Bosses, weapons, armor, skins, artifacts… oh my! Keep reading and take notes — you wouldn’t want to make the wrong choice. You can just purchase four copies of the game, each from a different retailer, right?

Red Faction: Battlegrounds officially announced screenshot

Last week we asked the question — What is Red Faction: Battlegrounds? Well, thanks to THQ revealing it at GDC Europe, we now know. Red Faction: Battlegrounds is a brand new entry in Volition’s Mars-based series, and it’s coming to XBLA and PlayStation Network.

Battlegrounds looks like an isometric vehicular combat game, with THQ revealing a variety of mechs, tanks and rovers in an arena environment. Up to four players can enjoy the game locally, and the title will unlock items for use in Red Faction: Armageddon.

That’s all the relevant information thus far. So now you know what Red Faction: Battlegrounds is!

+ Pre-order Brink, get DOOM or Fallout stuff By Admin 16 August 2010 at 3:00 am and have No Comments

Pre-order Brink, get DOOM or Fallout stuff screenshot

If you’re on the fence about Bethesda’s upcoming new shooter Brink, then the development team has something to sweeten the deal. If you pre-order the game through GameStop, you’ll get access to the DOOM Pack, which gives players a boatload of items related to id Software’s classic FPS.

You can outfit your character with a DOOM hat, a tattoo, T-shirts, and themed skins for your machine gun.

Other packs are also available through different retailers. Amazon and Direct2Drive get the Psycho Pack, which includes a special “Grin” face mask and the Caeser revolver. Steam gets the Spec Ops Pack, which gets a Hockler machine pistol, “Sloani” face mask, and greeneye scope.

Best Buy gets the Fallout Pack, with a themed tattoo, a skinned SMG, a bandana, and other stuff.

Brink looks really cool, and now you have a wealth of confusing and forgettable pre-order options. Yay!

+ Medal of Honor details spill out, going to be real real By Admin 15 August 2010 at 9:00 pm and have No Comments

Medal of Honor details spill out, going to be real real screenshot

This week’s GameTrailers TV has a whopping amount of news for those looking forward to the single-player campaign of Medal of Honor. Plenty of never before seen gameplay is above and it looks very solid. Executive producer Greg Goodrich also lets tons of juicy plot details drop, including the fact that the story will be divided up into three parts and will focus on multiple parts of the U.S. military.

If I was going for some sensationalism I might note, like some other gaming sites have, that Goodrich mentions that the game will be told “from two different sides” and then claim that this means that we may be playing as Al-Qaeda in the single-player as well as the multiplayer. However, I think it’s blatantly obvious to anyone that has actually watched the episode or heard them talk about the plot before that he is referring to different sides of the U.S. military — specifically Tier 1 and Army Rangers. And we go and complain about the mainstream media stirring up trouble where there is none.

I personally think that Goodrich’s discussion on the difference between realism and authenticity is far more interesting, and speaks loads more to how the game will play and what it will be like. I’m wondering how far away they’re moving from a more arcade shooter and if that’s going to fly with gamers used to Call of Duty’s gameplay style.
