We’ve asked in every way possible. We’ve tried everything to get Shenmue 3 from Sega: pleading, petitions, bribes. A guy named Shenmue Fan is trying something a bit different, and maybe a bit more Japanese. Here’s how he would tell you what he’s doing:
He blogs everyday,
usually in the form of
Shenmue 3 haikus.
This haiku (and senryu or whatever) blog is called Shenmue Stare, and it has the best heading image ever (seen above). The content is also quite funny. I like this one about Elisha Cuthbert. Hell, I like anything about Elisha Cuthbert. I’m with him on his Suzuki-sama post. Fan gets off-topic sometimes, but I’m usually right there with him on what he’s saying.
I at least chuckled at everything I found on Shenmue Stare. One thing had me rolling, though. You’ll see it after the jump.
This other one’s also pretty great.

The White Knight Chronicles story continues on the PSP with White Knight Chronicles Episode.Portable: Dogma Wars. The story takes place 10,000 before the previous two games. You’ll play as your created avatar, just like in the last release, but now you’ll fight against the huge knights that helped you in the earlier games. The game will be released in Japan in February.
This game will use infrastructure mode to let you play online, with up to four players in quests. Siliconera says that new copies of the game will include a license to log on, and if you do so between February 3 and 17, you’ll receive six weapons as a bonus.
There’s some cool connectivity between the first games and this new title. Your avatar from the last game can be imported into the PSP title. Connecting also unlocks special items in the PS3 game.
Japan gets this on February 3. I hope we get it soon after. Oh, but we’ll need that second game…
Nintendo is loading up an Airstream trailer with Wii Party and fun and then driving across our country’s magnificent west coast to show it off. They plan to roll up to shopping centers and family attractions in west coast cities from December 8th through the 17th, so be on the lookout.
Even if you’re not that interested in Wii Party and its 80 minigames and family fun, it might still be worth it to visit the Airstream. We hear that they’re giving away Wii consoles along with a copy of Wii Party. That could be a nice holiday gift.
Here’s what we know of the Airstream’s travel schedule:
- Dec. 8: Seattle (Seattle Center Winterfest)
- Dec. 11: San Francisco (Embarcadero Center)
- Dec. 14: Los Angeles (The Grove)
- Dec. 15: San Diego (San Diego Zoo)
- Dec. 17: San Jose, Calif. (Santana Row)
Nintendo loves acting confident enough to admit its failures, although in the case of Wii Speak, I don’t think Nintendo could pull the wool over our eyes if it wanted to. The ill-advised microphone/speaker combo is a dud, and Nintendo has confirmed as much.
“The Wii Speak microphone is still available at limited retail locations,” Nintendo states. “Additional shipments can be made if consumer demand increases.”
A number of retailers, including Amazon and GameStop, have stopped online orders for the peripheral while other stores simply have older shipments waiting to sell out with no indication that they’ll ask Nintendo for more. Meanwhile, upcoming games are dropping support for the peripheral, with The Conduit 2 becoming the latest to instead support the Headbanger Headset.
Thus the boring, dull, pointless saga of Wii Speak reaches its final chapter. Perhaps one day Nintendo will learn that we don’t want to purchase pointless, unsupported crap in order to play maybe two games.

Has critical and commercial failure spelled the end for the Kane & Lynch series? According to Eidos president Ian Livingstone, it hasn’t. He believes that the characters of Kane and Lynch are just too good to kill off, and we have not seen the last of them.
“We haven’t made any announcements about Kane & Lynch going forward, but we all know that Kane and Lynch are two amazing characters who have a lot of brand equity,” he says. “Kane & Lynch 2 clearly had a Marmite effect on people.
“You either loved it or hated it. Some people liked the juddering camera, home video style. Others absolutely hated it. Some loved the characters. Some didn’t like the characters. But it’s artistic, thrill-a-minute instant action stuff. I thought it was a great game, but I can understand people might not have liked it.”
I don’t think it’s quite so black-and-white as Livingstone paints it. For example, I love Kane and Lynch as characters, I just hate the shitty games that IO Interactive puts them into. I loved the concept of Dog Days’ juddery camera, I just hate how the game’s three-hour campaign gave me a headache because of it.
I agree that Kane and Lynch as characters have serious potential, but I don’t think that potential will be met with IO at the helm. Sorry, but Dog Days demonstrated that they just can’t hack it anymore.

If busting makes you feel good, great news — Atari has another Ghostbusters game planned for 2011.
Called Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, the title will be a four-player top-down adventure for PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE, and PC. According to USA Today, the title will feature massive boss battles, along with the usual specter hunting equipment: the proton stream, plasma inductor and the fermion shock.
The title is being developed by Wanako, who was responsible for the downloadable title Assault Heroes, as well as its sequel. Both of those titles featured vehicle combat, and it sounds like Sanctum of Slime will follow suit — players will be able to drive the Ecto-3!

A while ago, we talked about how Sony’s disgusting PSP advertising had inspired one mobile game developer to have a laugh and make money at the same time. Brad Johnson created Lame Castle, a game based on a fictional title shown during Sony’s commercial.
Lame Castle is now available on iTunes for the cool price of $0.99, which is significantly cheaper than it would be in Sony’s “PSP Minis” store. The game itself is a fun little title of the “Runner” variety. You ride your wooden horse and jump over obstacles or boost through targets for points.
It’s quite a charming title, really, and I’d say it’s worth a mere buck for sure. Get it and support mobile gaming, or at least support developers who can turn an insult into a fun game. At least that horrible PSP “Marcus” kid turned out good for something.
I joke a lot about how Europe gets the short end of the stick when it comes to game releases, making sure to piss and moan as much as possible on the very rare occasion that they should receive a game before North America does. But it should be criminal to make anybody wait for Kirby’s Epic Yarn, let alone laugh at the continent’s misfortune.
Nintendo of Europe has announced that Kirby’s Epic Yarn will be threading it’s way into European hearts on February 25th, 2011. That’s still three months away!
Being the sort of guy who always tries to find some kind of silver lining, consider this: By the time I have enough spare time to actually play Kirby’s Epic Yarn for more than a couple of minutes, you’ll probably be able to pick it up in shops. Then we can play together and it’ll be like it’s new to both of us! Yay!

The creatures in the Silent Hill series seem perfectly suited to being represented in sculpture. So why is it that it has taken so long for someone to produce and market such a thing?
No, better not to question it. As our sister blog Tomopop reports, Trims Japan has stepped up to the plate and is producing two solid resin statues of Valtiel (above) and Pyramid Head. They look like gorgeous pieces but beauty comes at a significant cost, with Valtiel running ¥27,000 and Pyramid Head going for ¥29,000.
Yikes. That’s a bit out of my price range. And, to be perfectly frank, I’m not too terribly thrilled by the Pyramid Head statue. There’s some cool detail in its sculpt but a lot of it looks more muddled than I would like.
